Managing Business Performance 企业绩效管理

MSc Managing Business Performance:

Over the last 20 years the field of business performance measurement has developed from business performance measurement, (i.e. what to measure, how to measure and how to report the results), to business performance management, (i.e. how to use the measures to manage the performance of the organisation). Throughout this period, several models and methodologies for performance measurement systems design and implementation have emerged. Today the relevance of performance measurement in management of organisations’ results is widely accepted with performance measurement and performance management practices being commonplace in all sectors of industry and commerce, including the public sector. Consequently there appears to be increasing levels of demand for education programmes addressing this specific and growing area of interest.  This programme, whilst providing a dedicated pathway of Managing Business Performance that complements the existing postgraduate programmes with the School, aims to impart the contemporary knowledge and skills for measuring and managing performance of organisations, including industrial, commercial and public sector, from two differing but complementing lenses, i.e. the technical and the social.

Operations Management 运筹管理

MSc Operations Management:

Operations Management is a well-established management discipline which has been growing in importance and recognition since the early industrialisation period. Its early origins lie in FW Taylor’s Scientific Management. It then developed mainly in the field of manufacturing management. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s it also gained popularity in the service sector and later in the public and the third sectors. Today, there is an increasing demand for operations management specialists in all types of organisations. The programme is to provide high calibre operations management graduates with an in-depth understanding of strategic, tactical and operational issues across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, service, public and the third sectors. On completion of the course, the students will be well equipped with state of the art knowledge of the concepts, methods, tools and techniques to enable them to contribute towards the competitiveness of organisations.
